Prach Boondiskulchok

Thai-British pianist Prach Boondiskulchok is much in demand as a versatile and a distinctive pianist, historical keyboard player and composer.

Having studied piano and composition at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as a Scholar of Princess Galyani Vadhana, Prach was selected as a Park Lane Group Young Musician in three consecutive years, 2011–2013, which led to a featured recital of Magnus Lindberg’s solo piano works, introduced by the composer. Beyond his formal studies, Prach has played in masterclasses and worked musicians such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Richard Goode, András Schiff, Pascal Devoyon, Ferenc Rados, Eberhardt Feltz, Thomas Adès, Julian Anderson, Malcolm Bilson and Carole Cerasi.

Prach’s busy performing schedule has taken him to many prestigious venues and festivals including Wigmore Hall, Barbican Hall, Royal Festival Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Thailand Cultural Centre (Thailand), IMS Open Chamber Music (Prussia Cove, UK), Viana Festival (Portugal), Geelvinck Fortepiano Festival (Amsterdam), and the Birdfoot Festival (New Orleans).

Prach is a member of the Linos Piano Trio, winners of First Prize and Audience Prize at the 2015 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and recipients of the 2014 Royal Philharmonic Society Frost Prize. The Linos Piano Trio recently recorded the complete Piano Trios (Accompanied Sonatas) of C.P.E. Bach in the composer’s centenary year.

His recent compositions include Night Suite (2014) for Piano Trio, widely performed by the Linos Piano Trio, and the chamber song cycle, Goose Daughter commissioned and premiered by the Birdfoot Festival in 2016. Goose Daughter has also received performances in New York, and London’s Kings Place.

His youthful performance of Bach Sinfonias at the Royal Festival Hall was highly praised by the Independent as an “ecstatic rendition [which] would have been a high point in any programme”. More recently Prach has received critical acclaim in The Strad, The Times and The Times-Picayune.

A keen educator, Prach gives regular masterclasses and coachings around the world. He served as a faculty member at the Yehudi Menuhin School from 2010-2016, and is currently a Visiting Professor at the Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in Bangkok. Prach also serves on the jury of the Geelvinck International Fortepiano Competition.
