Throughout his time as a student at Bard College and UT El Paso, Chris’s closest musical mentors were composer Joan Tower and cellist Zuill Bailey. Chris was selected as a finalist in both the 2022 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards and the 2022 Catalyst Quartet CQ Minute Competition. Together with guitarist/composer Gabriel Angel Fuentes, Chris recently co-released an album of original music for cello and guitar entitled Cuentista. Upcoming projects include the premiere of a new solo cello and string quartet work commissioned by cellist Cicely Parnas and the recording debut of the newly formed group Zujaj, a trio collaboration with Parnas and oudist/composer Isa Alnajem.
