Jaren Philleo — Oboe
Jaren Philleo is currently the principal oboist of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, Jaren auditioned for the LPO following her graduate studies at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where she studied with Robert Atherholt. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in music performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with John Mack.
Prior to obtaining her position with the LPO, Jaren was the principal oboist of the Sarasota Opera for two seasons. She has been a featured soloist with the Fairbanks Symphony, Washington Chamber Symphony in the Kennedy Center, Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Jaren has participated in the Marlboro Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra and Spoleto Festival USA.
This summer will be Jaren’s first summer teaching at the Interlochen Oboe Institute and her sixth summer performing in the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She currently teaches oboe and coaches chamber music at Tulane University.
