Dashiel Nesbitt — Viola
Dashiel Nesbitt, originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, is excited to now be based in Berlin, Germany as a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin under Maestro Daniel Barenboim.
An active chamber musician, he has performed at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, Thy Chamber Music Festival (Denmark), Zermatt Festival (Switzerland) and, best of all, the Birdfoot Festival.
As an orchestral player, Dash has performed with ensembles such as the New York String Orchestra, the Kammerorchester Basel, Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra, Staats- orchester Rheinische Philharmonie, Staatskapelle Berlin, and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. An enthusiastic baroque violist, he has performed extensively with historical performance specialist Robert Mealy as part of both the Juilliard 415 Ensemble and the Yale Baroque Ensemble.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in viola performance with Atar Arad at Indiana University and his master’s degree with Ettore Causa at Yale University. He began playing the viola at the age of 12 in his local public school string program.
